Look for us at the Farmers’ Markets along with our neighbors who have come together to provide a variety of fresh foods for your health. The expansion of local foods is gaining momentum across the country as people are realizing the health and economic benefits of quality, fresh foods sold directly to the consumer. The romance of the American people with cheap food and lots of it is coming to an end as we battle the obesity and chronic diseases that have multiplied as a result of an excess of highly processed but low quality foods. We also realize that we cannot continue to ship in foods from industrial mega-farms and large processing facilities while we continue to export our food dollars out of the state. Here on the south end of Mille Lacs Lake the local farmers and gardeners are ready to use our valuable natural resources to feed our local people, the many visitors that come to our area, and we are looking to even provide foods to our many local institutions as future planning unfolds. Can we feed our people? Yes, we can! |

The Eller Farm will market our products at the Farmers’ Markets, but we will also continue to sell direct off the farm. Buying your meats directly from us and having us arrange custom processing for you is still the least expensive way to stock your freezer. This year, to avoid expensive operating loans, we are asking for down payments at the time you place your order. The greatest expense is the organic feeds that have increased in price about 25% over the past year. We’ve also felt the impact of rising fuel, seed, and fertilizer costs. The down payments are: Beef: $150/quarter Chicken: $5/bird Pork: $150/half hog Prices this year are subject to change and whenever possible this change will be downwards, especially if feed and fuel prices fall or at least stabilize. Thanks for supporting your local farmer! |
